GRADE ABOVE 7 IN THE UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL SUBJECTS SPECIAL PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGY, PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS, DISPENSING.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, the students have knowledge of the following: a) The basic characteristics and the application of sensors to the pharmaceutical operations such as tabletting, granulation, powder flow and crystallization. b) Their application in the measurement of the mechanical strength of granules, pellets and tablets determined from compression and tensile tests that are applied for the control of the technical specifications of pharmaceutical products. c)methods for processing and analysis of data using statistical programs (SPSS, DesignExpert, SigmaPlot, Origin)and Neural Networks. Skills: Familiarization with measurement and harvesting data systems for the study of pharmaceutical operations and application of the aqcuired knowledge for the solution of formulation problems

Course Content (Syllabus)
Collection, recording, processing and analysis of data using computers a) Collection and recording of data: Sensors, interfacing sensors with signal conditioning and data harvesting instruments,data recording in Excel files. b) Processing and analysis of data: (i) Factorial designs and analysis programs. Types and selection of suitable factorial designs. Multiple linear regression and evaluation of predictive models. Multifactorial analysis of variance. Response surface and optimization methods. Application of statistical and graphical software programs SPSS, EXCEL, SIGMAPLOT. (ii) Data analysis using Neural Networks. (iii) Exploratory data analysis, data visualization, interactive dynamic graphics.

Student Assessment
Description
3-hours written examination at the end of winter semester. Evaluation is based on 5-6 questions from the Lecture notes. The results are publicised in the notice board on the 2nd floor of Biology-Pharmacy building, about one week following the written examination. Prior to sitting exams, the students have to present a report of lab work in a the format of a paper.
