Learning Outcomes
Successful completion of the course means that the students (a) will develop an understanding of the theoretical principles of a critical approach towards the field of Psychology, (b) will be able to recognise the patriarchal societal structures as well as the diversity of feminist perspectives, (c) will recognise gender power relations in society, (d) will acquire a feminist awareness and, finally, (e) will develop alternative skills regarding the practice of psychology and their professional role as counsellors/therapists.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is an introduction to the field and practice of Feminist Psychology. This scientific division has developed research and theory in relation to women and gender identity. It is a kind of Critical Psychology as it challenges the moral, political and scientific claims of Psychology and tries to influence the direction/orientation of the field of Psychology as a whole. The topics of the course include: (1) feminism, women's movement and sexism, (2) patriarchy and feminist approaches, (3) gender identities and stereotypes, (4) feminist critique of psychology, (5) feminist personality theories, 6) feminist counseling and treatment, (7) counseling on the abuse of women, (8) LGBT counseling, (9) gender and education, and (10) women and work.
