Learning Outcomes
By accomplishing this course, students will be able to understand a building's energy balance and ways in which is its applied. They will have obtained an insight into the fundamentals of thermal insulation for the building's energy efficiency, along with how to calculate and check compliance with regulatory requirements. They will also obtain insight into insulation materials and solutions. Furthermore, they will have understood the principles and practiced the application of heating and cooling load calculations, and they will be able to perform the design and dimensioning of heating and air-conditioning systems for buildings. Finally, they will have understood the fundamentals of thermal comfort and indoor air-quality in buildings, which will be treated extensively in other courses of the energy sector.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
  • Adapt to new situations
  • Make decisions
