Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able to create thematic maps with the various software tools used in the course exercises, but also to know the basic principles according to which one can make a thematic map whatever the mapping tool available.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Subject of the course. Thematic phenomena and their classification. The scale in thematic maps. Rules for the graphic representation of thematic information. Collection, elaboration & processing, representation of thematic information. Symbolizing nominal, ordinal, numerical information. Types of thematic maps (choropleth, isoline, dot, cartograms). Correlation of thematic information. Synthesis rules and thematic map creation.
