Course Content (Syllabus)
The course, one of the first of its kind in Greek universities, introduces postgraduate students to the study of the culture, art and architecture of the world of Islam, in the Middle East, Sicily and Asia Minor, from the Umayyads and the Abbasids, to the Fatimids, the Seljuk Turks, the Mongols and the Ottomans. At the same time, the diachronic interactions with Byzantine culture are examined.
