Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have mastered how complex organisms develop mechanisms enabling them to differentiate between "self" and "non-self" components of the organism or the environment and deploy natural and acquired defence mechanisms, leading to tolerance or elimination of these components, via activation of cellular and molecular processes of the immune system. Students will have understood the complex mechanisms of host defense and gained insight into how the immune system changes in health and disease, especially in the case of autoimmune diseases.
