Learning Outcomes
With the successful completion of the lectures the student will be able to: - evaluate read the liturgical texts in a critical way in the context of their historical relevance - identify the historical, social, and cultural significance of liturgical texts - realize our rich liturgical tradition in the field of research, in the academic process and in the pastoral activity of the Church

Course Content (Syllabus)
In this course the following will be examined: The History and Theology of Christian Worship. The meaning of the terms Liturgy, Liturgics, Worship, Teleturgics, Liturgical Theology and Theology of Worship. Liturgical prayer as the object of Christian worship. Man as a liturgical being, the biblical, doctrinal, social and secular character of Divine Worship. Sources of Luturgics, Liturgical Hermeneutics. Liturgical types of the East and West. The Divine Liturgy. The origins of the Eucharist. The Eucharistic unity of the clergy and laity. Eucharistic ecclesiology. Liturgics and spiritual life. Liturgy and the world. The evolution and formation of the Divine Liturgy. Interpretation of the Divine Liturgy based on liturgical commentaries. Analysis of the Liturgies of the Apostolic Constitutions, St. Mark, St. James, Armenian, and Roman. Modern liturgical problems and opportunities for liturgical renewal. This course requires student participation in both training exercises in the Metropolises and parishes of Greece for the study of their respective liturgical lives, as well as the weekly worship gathering in the chapel of the School.
