Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: -Analyze the sources by using Ecclesiastical History scientific methodology -Name the most important issues related to the Church organization and administration -Evaluate the factors that caused the Christian world separation -Shape critically their own view on efforts and initiatives to restore the unity of Christians -Analyze contemporary ecclesiastical facts -Realize the importance of Ecclesiastical History within the context of the international theological dialogue

This course examines the following topics: • The Schism of 1054 • The Crusades • Efforts to restore the ecclesiastical unity between East and West • Heresy and theological controversies in Byzantium during the period 11th-15th c. • History of the Ecumenical Patriarchate during the Ottoman period • History of Roman Catholic Church • Protestants
