Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students will have grasped basic forestry terminology acquisition, which will help them to their school subjects acquisition as well. They will feel more well-grounded and prepared in issues of their specialty. They will acquire specific language skills and knowledge; the course will help them and make them understand the usefulness of it and how they will apply those skills or knowledge in their daily practice. They will be more proficient and sure of themselves in the language acquisition and ESP terminology; students will be much better prepared and organized for any linguistic challenges, after the consolidation and strengthening of the desired vocabulary and key concepts they were taught during the course.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is aimed at undergraduate students who have little previous knowledge of the subject; therefore, it is designed to meet the requirements of the English learner and, in particular, initiate freshers of Forestry into basic structures, technical terms and terminology of their specialty. The selected texts are specifically adapted to their needs and prepare them for their final mandatory English examination. Students are introduced to basic forestry concepts pertinent to soil structure and mechanisms, flower morphology, leaf structure , the raising of trees, fungi and bacteria, timber crops harvesting, plant reproduction, soil erosion. Emphasis is given on the tasks and exercises of the units for more practice in the field, better understanding of the terms in question as well as consolidation and strengthening of the specific vocabulary each time. key words: soil, flower morphology, leaf, fungi, timber, reproduction, harvest, erosion
