Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is divided in two sections:
•PRODUCTION OF AN ADVERTISEMENT (seven lectures): the production of short films/spots for commercial purposes was always a unique, active part of the audiovisual production. In fact, these are short films with specialized/informative purposes (to persuade the consumers/citizens to buy a product or a service, or to raise their awareness in order to focus on a particular ideological/social/political direction). With the introduction of the New Media, the production of commercials expands into the new unexplored field of the internet, shaping new forms and codifications in relation to the usual TV commercials. The aim of this section of the course is to present the main principles of production of TV/online commercials, with emphasis on the production process (idea, script, style, aesthetics, implementation).
•FILM PRODUCTION IN GREECE (six lectures): The aim of this section is to present the evolution of the film production process in our country, focusing on the current situation, the opportunities and the difficulties it presents for the independent producer and the environment which he/she is called to operate in. In this context, there will be a detailed presentation of the Greek audiovisual space. TV channels, Production companies, Distribution companies, shooting studios and locations, institutions (Greek Film Centre, Media Desk Hellas, IOM, etc).
