Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course students will be familiar with basic features of academic discourse, will be able to know the structure of a scientific paper, an undergraduate thesis, to recognize and use the same techniques of moderation or reinforcement in their texts as well and basic techniques for summarizing and presenting the key points of a text both in writing and orally.

Course Content (Syllabus)
In the Greek course for foreigners, the types of texts that students deal with are scientific and research articles, texts of academic textbooks and undergraduate theses focusing on their characteristics but also on elements of their structure.They become familiar with techniques of summarizing and presenting the main points of a text, with techniques of moderating or reinforcing the attitude of the author while developing their general academic vocabulary and extending their knowledge to phenomena of morphology and syntax of Greek, which are found in academic discourse such as subjunctive connection, production and synthesis with scholarly participles and lexical prefixes and suffixes, in order to fully meet students' requirements for comprehension and production of written speech mainly during their studies.

Four language skills' evaluation (listening, reading, speaking, writing) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment 2001. Council of Europe, Cambridge University Press, http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/education/elp/elp-reg/Source/Key_reference/CEFR_EN.pdf. Due to the interactive character of teaching there is the possibility to evaluate students during class.
