General Prerequisites
The course has no formal prerequisites. In order for the participants to be able to understand better the structure of the taught crimes and related theoretical issues of general nature (e.g. attempt, participation, grounds of justification or excuse) it is recommended that they have already got familiar with basic concepts and doctrinal structures of Criminal Law by attending the courses Criminal Law.
Learning Outcomes
Develop the ability to recognize and understand the main interpretive issues related to the issues taught, to use appropriate interpretive methods to solve them, to present and critically evaluate the views supported by them in science and for proper application of the provisions in practice.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on the fundamental concepts of criminology, theoretical interpretations of criminal behavior and methods of empirical approach to crime with emphasis on the appropriateness of strategic and tactical measures and the effectiveness of state sanctions aimed at controlling crime. At the same time, the principles governing the formation of the conditions for sentencing and the penitentiary rules at national and international level are analyzed.
