Applicants must have been positively judged on the basis of the admission process to the postgraduate program.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful course completion, students will be able to: understand the etiology and the nature of addiction related problems and the historic development of addiction theories. The theoretical underpinnings of current pharmacotherapeutic and psychosocial interventions for addiction treatment will be discussed. The course starts with the critical discussion of the aetiological factors and the hermeneutics of addiction while students will be engaged in basic concepts of the diverse treatment interventions. The pros and cons of the various psychosocial and pharmacotherapeutic approaches will be analysed with emphasis given on assessment and effectiveness of treatment interventions. In parallel, basic concepts such as treatment early drop-out will be discussed.

Description
During teaching participatory methods will be used along with lectures, seminars, role play and critical dialogue. Moodle will also be used for effective communication with students.
