Learning Outcomes
1. FOR THE STUDENTS TO RECOGNIZE THE LITERARY ENVIRONMENT OF THE HELLENISTIC AGE, AND ITS LITERARY GENRES IN PARTICULAR, AS IT WAS LIVED OUT IN NEW FORM DURING THE CHRISTIAN PERIOD. 2. TO CONFIRM THAT THE BOOKS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CONSTITUTE A NEW LITERARY GENRE IN THIS EPOCH. 3. TO FOLLOW THE FORMATION OF THE CHRISTIAN HOMILY, WHICH CONSTITUTES BOTH A NEW LITERARY GENRE, THE CHARACTERISTICS OF WHICH TOWARDS THE FORMATION AND CONTENT OF THE INFLUENCES WHICH IT ABSORBED.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The Judeo- Hellenistic literary context of the "christian homily" as a new genre litéraire: The relation of the Gospel with the preaching of Synagogue. The "diatribe: of Cynics and its influence on christian preaching. The first christian homily - analysis of content and style.
