The student will be able to combine data from invertebrate assemblages of different environments in order to draw paleoecological, paleoenvironmental and paleogeographic conclusions.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Invertebrate assemblages in different environments: Marine (shallow, coastal, lagoonal), River - Lake, Land. Use of invertebrates as markers of paleoenvironment. Comparison of assemblages of different organisms (bryozoans, molluscs...) for larger scale and paleogeographic reconstructions - examples. Sea level indicators - applications and case studies of paleogeographic reconstruction of areas from Greece and the wider Mediterranean region during the Pleistocene - Holocene. Environmental variations, environmental stability with statistical methods. Applications in geoarchaeology. Sampling techniques of Holocene fossiliferous sediments.
