Learning Outcomes
The course objectives are:
(Α) to give students the chance to become familiar with the representatives and main features of a poetic genre or movement
(B) to study representative samples of such genre or movement
(C) to recognize a. elements pertaining to the genre’s interaction with other generic models and b. processes of intertextuality
(D) to engage them in interpretation of particular texts by applying knowledge from previous courses
(E) to form a clear idea of the scholarly questions posed by the generic samples or literary movements under study.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This course focuses on Latin texts representing genres other than epic, drama and epigram; alternatively, it may operate on the basis of anthologised texts from various generic areas. As is the rule with most of the optional compulsory courses in Classics, students are expected to apply knowledge acquired in previous courses in the areas of language, textual criticism and close reading, while also becoming familiar with specific aspects of, and research questions posed by, Latin poetic texts. The specific content and learning outcomes of the course are up to individual instructors.
