Learning Outcomes
Students are trained on a theoretical and practical level in the identification and critical analysis of the individual iconographic elements and the whole of the representations on vases, figurines and reliefs related to various thematic units (cult-religion, women's life, symposion iconography). They learn to handle and present the relevant literature, to answer short questions and to compose longer written and oral papers.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introductory lessons by the lecturer on theoretical epistemological and interpretative approaches to the archaeological material -especially Attic vase painting, oral presentations of students on selected bibliographical studies, practical exercises with pottery fragments, composition with oral presentation and in written form of a major essay on a specific topic.

Student Assessment
Description
The students are required to study specific Greek and foreign-language literature per week and to present a brief critical evaluation. They are also to study specific bibliography related to certain topics given to them and to compose and present a written paper on this topic. Assessment will be based on the final paper they write and on their weekly presentations, their ability to argue, think critically and respond to the literature. In addition, there are exercises on pottery fragments from the collection of the Cast Museum.
