Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the students are expected to: 1. They have acquired the basic knowledge, in terms of composition, properties, processing, of all conventional and renewable energy sources and mainly of liquid hydrocarbons (oil), gaseous hydrocarbons (natural gas) and solid (coal). 2. Understand chemical processes in the industry. 3. Know the properties of fats, oils and carbohydrates. 4. They can expand the acquired knowledge and experience.

Course Content (Syllabus)
1. Introduction to Industrial Organic chemistry. Energy sources 2. Elements of renewable energy sources (biomass, organic photovoltaics) 3. Liquid hydrocarbons: Petroleum, composition, physical and chemical properties, refinery, thermal cracking, catalytic reforming, products, laboratory tests. 4. Gaseous hydrocarbons: Natural gas, composition, properties, processes, applications. 5. Solid fuels: Coals: classification, composition, properties, processes. 6. Fats, oils, and carbohydrates. 7. Basic chemical operations in industrial processes. 8. Problems solving
