Course Content (Syllabus)
The topics of the 7th and 8th semester include the rationale for orthodontic treatment, etiology and classification of malocclusion according to the Angle’s classification, the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (ΙΟΤΝ) the Peer Assessment Rating (PAR) and the Index of Complexity Outcome and Need (ICON), management of the developing dentition, craniofacial growth and development, biologic basis of tooth movement and anchorage, orthodontic diagnosis, cephalometrics, orthodontic treatment planning, Class I problems and their management, as well as removable and fixed orthodontic appliances. In addition the students construct two removable appliances in the laboratory, and by means of a text book evaluate panoramic and cephalometric radiographs, and discuss cases with different orthodontic problems.
