Learning Outcomes
The course aims a) to familiarize students with the framework and axons of pedagogical science and with the relationship between Teaching and Methodology of science and b) to introduce students to the work of the pedagogue in general and of the teacher in particular. Furthermore, within the framework of the course, issues concerning -among others-, the assessment of students, co-education, play, as well as pedagogical issues concerning sports competition and performance, and the approach and interpretation of phenomena that occur in the field of sport are also examined. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to: a) know the basic components of the pedagogical process (i.e. teaching and learning issues), as well as the characteristics of the protagonists of this process (teacher, student) b) have scientific training, and be effective educators within the educational context.

Course Content (Syllabus)
- Introduction to Pedagogy: Basic meanings and principles of pedagogical science, Pedagogy domains, research methods. - Pedagogical process: structural meanings, conditions - Historical review of the phenomenon of education. Approach to the term of education. Timeless factors that make education necessary and possible - General information about the student: “turning points” in the student’s career, students’ preferences, factors that affect school performance, the "difficult" students - Information about students’ development: Key features of student’s mental, psychosocial and kinetic development in primary and secondary education - The educator: Personality, typologies of educators, characteristics of an ideal teacher, role, basic conditions for a teacher - Goals and means of education and learning (Physical Education Curriculum) - Play as a pedagogical process and lifelong physical activity - Competitive sport for children (Pedagogy perspective) - Motivation in Physical Education/ establishing a positive motivational climate - Recognition, measurement and assessment as pedagogical processes - Child, physical activity and moral development - Classroom management/ dealing and managing crisis in school classrooms

Description
Optional work in the field of Sport-Pedagogy in the middle of the semester (20%) and writing final exams (80% or 100% for those who did not carried out their assignment) with short answer questions. The criteria are mentioned in the Department’s Study Guide and are further communicated to the students in the first lesson.
