In the context of this course the students are expected to
-examine main issues of the consumer protection law and e-commerce law
-understand the meaning of consumer
-study consumer contracts
-emphasize on personal data protection on Internet
-understand unfair business practices
-analyze the consumer legal rights
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course “Consumer protection law - E-commerce” is divided into two topics: (i) Consumer protection law and (ii) e-commerce. In the context of the consumer protection part, the following topics are examined: the notion of “consumer”, the protection of the consumer acting in several capacities (inter alia as a recipient of advertisements or of supply services), the different types of consumer contracts (distance contracts, financial services distance contracts) as well as issues pertaining to advertisements and unfair business practices. The second part of the course, that is the E-commerce, examines including Business to Business and Business to Consumers issues, the protection of personal data on the web, e-contracting and e-payment as well as the liability of information service providers.
