Course Content (Syllabus)
• REACH regulation- Classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures
• Principles of management for urban and industrial wastes. Legislation. Main management practices (incineration-biodegradation-landfill). Specific classes of wastes. Life cycle analysis. Risk assessment.
• Characterization of toxicity of solid wastes-Leaching tests. Treatment of toxic wastes by physicochemical, thermal and biological processes
• Wastewater treatement and reuse. Conventional and advanced oxidation methods for water and wastewater treatment
• Water treatment-Removal of micropolluatnts-Disinfection
• Management of air pollution from stationary and mobile combustion sources
• The European Directive for industrial emissions (IED)
• Bibliographic work/Seminar
• Field visits ( in landfill, water treatment plan, wastewater treatment plants)
