Learning Outcomes
The objective aim of the course is to educate the students concerning the important relationship between nutrition and exercise
On successful completion of this course students will be able to:
Understand the basic principles of sports nutrition
Get informed about the role of nutritional support in athletic performance and its influence in training induced adaptations
Understand the mechanism of action of nutrients in athletic performance

Introduction to nutrition and exercise
Energy production during exercise
Regulation of protein and amino acids metabolism
Carbohydrate metabolism during exercise. The role of CHO intake during exercise
Carbo-loading
Fluid balance during exercise: hydration, dehydration, hypohydration, rehydration
Metabolism and nutritional needs of micronutrients. The role of vitamins and minerals to improve athletic performance
Hyponatremia, rehydration and sports drinks
Ergogenic supplements
Nutrition-Exercise and weight loss
Eating disorders in sports
Nutritional needs of children and adolescents’ trainees
