Learning Outcomes
Upon the successful completion of this course, the students will be provided with the basic theoretical and practical knowledge, which will enable them to:
1). describe the basic safety rules in the aquatic environment and the surrounding area.
2). adopt a positive attitude towards issues regarding the importance of the exercise in water to health.
3). plan swimming lessons, having breathing, diving, front and back floating as their basic components, as well as propulsion for all 4 different swimming “styles”.
4). verbally describe the technique of all swimming “styles”
5). represent the technique of all swimming styles
6). to formulate in a correct and comprehensible way the description of exercises to children who are interested in learning how to swim
7). to judge whether the swimming technique of a practitioner in any style is valid according to the regulations
Course Content (Syllabus)
Basic rules of conduct and hygiene.
Familiarization with the water.
Safety inside and around the water.
Basic principles of breathing, dunking, floating and propulsion.
Propulsion from the wall and underwater propulsion
Teaching methods of basic exercises for floating in prone, supine and side position.
Front crawl with side-breathe.
The basic technique of backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly swimming styles.
Entering the water in competitive condition and turns in all 4 techniques.
