Learning Outcomes
Upon the completion of this course students will be able:
1. Reflect on modern theoretical approaches to leisure, recreation and entertainment.
2. To understand the historical context of the camp institution internationally and in Greece,
3. To classify the organizational structure of a camp,
4. To know how the development / training of the human resources of a camp takes place,
5. Give examples of how the team works in a camp,
6. To match the organization of camp programs for athletes, children of expatriates, children with and without disabilities, etc.
7. Design camping games and entertainment programs.
Course Content (Syllabus)
1. Camps and leisure: theoretical framework - philosophical framework - concepts - explanation of terms,
2. Historical route of the camps abroad and in Greece - timeless evolution - the role of the modern camp,
3. Organizational structure of the camp: Legal status, structure and organization of different camps, health obligations, operational needs,
4. Development / training of the human resources of the camp: The identity of the executive - the role of the leader - obligations of the department heads - team leaders - sport - entertainment - leisure executives - duties and responsibilities of the team leaders,
5. Concept of team in the camp: Relationships of executives with campers- dealing with deviant behaviors,
6. Organization of camp programs for athletes, children of expatriates, children with and without disabilities, etc.
7. Design of camping games, entertainment programs: sea - swimming pool - team sports - individual sports - extreme games - off camping - safari - dangers,
8. Designing camping games, entertainment programs: for young children - for teenagers.
