Learning Outcomes
Cellular adaptations to exercise. Introduce the basic cellular functions at rest and during exercise and the adaptations to the cells' function in response to different modes of training. The student will study how the adaptations on cell structure and function interact with the cardiovascular functions. In addition, the cellular functions that lead to hypertrophy and atrophy, as well as novel scientific findings on the field of cellular exercise physiology will be presented to the student. At the end of the course, the student will be able to explain how exercise can result in the adaptations in the cell's function in athletes, in individuals from the general population and in individuals with chronic diseases.
