Course Content (Syllabus)
The subject of the course is translation as intercultural mediation. Basic translation procedures applied for the translation of cultural words (explicitation, modulation, adaptation, borrowing, etc.) are presented theoretically and applied in practice during the course. Then, with the help of translation professionals, students acquire a basic knowledge of the translation professions, such as literary translation, specialized translation, localization, subtitling, and transcreation, focusing on the way in which intercultural differences are bridged in each one of these professions. 1.
