Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course the students should be able to: 1. Identify and use properly hand instruments and equipment that are used in Operative Dentistry 2. Identify and describe healthy dental tissues and differentiate from cariogenic tissues 3. Apply appropriate tooth preparation guidelines for simple and advanced direct amalgam restorations 4. Acquire basic treatment planning skills and decide on preventive or restorative treatment options.

This module aims to build on the knowledge learnt in previous semesters so that students will be able to: 1. Understand the cause and pathogenesis of dental decay 2. Understand the properties and clinical applications of dental amalgam
