Learning Outcomes
Following the successful completion of the course, students will
(1) get to know various aspects of the evolution of ancient Greek and Roman culture;
(2) have acquired basic knowledge of important monuments and artefacts of Ancient Greece and Rome;
(3) become familiar with various thematic areas of Classical Archaeology;
(4) be able to use and assess the relevant bibliography.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Classical Archaeology is the discipline that studies the material remains of ancient Greece and Rome from the 10th century BC to the 4th century AD. The course offers a brief introduction to the history, methodology and fields of study of this particular archaeological sector. The principal aspects of architecture, city planning, sculpture, pottery and small-scale art along with the conditions that shaped their development are presented through the examination of important monuments and artefacts of the ancient Greek and Roman world from the Proto-Geometric period to the Late Antiquity.

The aim of the examination is to establish whether the students know and comprehends information by commenting on images. For this reason, attendance –though not compulsory- is considered necessary.
