Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able: 1. to handle a range of Agricultural Extension methodological tools. 2. to become familiar with issues of advisory work and communication. 3. to become familiar with the theory of innovation and the categorization of farmers based on their degree to modernity. 4. to gain the opportunity for collaboration and development of communication skills. 5. to become familiar with reading scientific articles and present their work in public.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is an exploratory first series of lectures on the philosophical background of agricultural extension (advisory work) and especially on the redefinition of the role of agricultural extention staff in modern agriculture. In particular the course provides students with a general overview of the areas of knowledge difussion, information and communication tools, agricultural extension programs, strategies, actions and a first acquaintance with the methodology tools. However, a greater emphasis is placed on modern trends of agricultural extension and specifically on precision farming, adoption-diffusion of innovations, communication, identification and use of opinion leaders in rural areas.
