Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students are able to: -read with fluency and only a few errors a selection of passages from the Qurannic text who have been taught in class -translate the Quranic passages understanding the greatest part of the grammatical and syntactical features - feel at ease with the challenges of studying the text in an academic environment and in groups of interfaith composition -be aware of the points they need to work on to improve their pronouncing the Arabic text -connect the modern and contemporary exegetical tradition with modern reformists movements of Islamic thought -take a stance in some of the contemporary questions on the study of the Quran and its exegesis -express sophisticated and mature discourse on the study of Islam in the framework of Orientalism and colonialism and post-colonialism

Course Content (Syllabus)
The students continue to delve in the study of the Qur'an and the exegetical texts (al-tafāsīr) and the development of the study and theological existence of the Qur'anic text and its exegetical tradition from the classical to the modern period. The approach is sometimes thematic and others focusses on technical matters such as the history of the Quranic manuscripts. The ultimate goal of the class remains to provide students with a more wholistic and substantial understanding of the Quranic traditions
