General Prerequisites
The aim of this course is to develop and refine the specific skills needed by translators working with scientific and technical material. Students will deal with a variety of texts and topics ranging from articles to product catalogues and from information technology to chemistry, gaining an understanding of technical/scientific terminology and style through practical translation work. Translation strategies will be highlighted and reference works, dictionaries and other sources will be presented. Related issues, such as editing and proof-reading, will also be highlighted. The course is addressed to students who have successfully passed the course Translation Methodology. The course is held in the computer lab. Attendance is mandatory.
