Learning Outcomes

Course Content (Syllabus)
DEGREE THESIS PREPARATION - DEGREE THESIS During the course and until the end of the year, the students process in the studio a portfolio of paintings of exceptional quality, or alternatively a fully integrated proposal in another expressive medium or media so that they are ready to be proposed by the Laboratory Principal in order to graduate. The elaboration, development and completion of the preliminary and final phase of their dissertation aims to expose not only the portfolio or a fully feasible proposal to another medium but also the very process of producing and presenting an original work of art as a perfect artistic example. At the same time, they are called to achieve through their work the fullest possible unity of thought and action but also the development of imagination and creativity that are necessary for the technical implementation of solutions in their work. The most systematic understanding of the empirical knowledge produced in the workshop as well as the creation, management, arrangement and presentation of the best artistic practice is sought. The criteria for successful completion of the dissertation are set from the beginning of the 9th semester and their fulfillment requires the following: A. to have developed to a high degree the knowledge and understanding of contemporary art through the practice of the workshop so that their works meet the requirements of the time, in a social and cultural context. B. to demonstrate professionalism, technical skills and productive and organizational skills such that the final products of their work correspond adequately to the level of the different fields of application of the visual arts that arise each time from their proposal. C. to adequately develop the ability to find and implement alternatives to their creative ideas, experimental methods and conceptual proposals. D. have the ability to negotiate and argue on an individual / group level. E. to perceive the cultivation of conditions of reception and reception of the work of art by different viewers as a necessary condition (conditio sine qua non) of the desirable perception of its content in -a different time- context in which each work can developed. F. to develop and adapt the ability to supervise a number of complex situations and contexts as well as the ability to act in unfamiliar and uncknown situations. G. to develop the ability to understand and develop the theoretical utensil, the conceptual approach and the methodology corresponding to cognitive fields that arise through the visual search and finally to realize the requirement of self-knowledge in view of their professional and possibly academic progress.
