Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. develop critical ability and understanding of the semantic processes associated with the extensive use of drawing in various fields
2. to strengthen the objective conditions for the creation of a solid work of art
3. understand the renewed importance of drawing as an autonomous work of art
4. get in touch with today's advanced artistic research in the field
5. acquire supervisory skills of their personalized visual research
6 to manage satisfactorily the knowledge resulting from the application of intentional drawing as a construction principle of the work of art
Course Content (Syllabus)
Representative-analogical and Conceptual Drawing: Tensions and historicity.
When does a drawing become an object and not an image? How can a line leave the paper and become "action"? Can a plan tell a story? These questions and many more will guide the progress of the students' work. The course activities aim at understanding the history of drawing as the foundation of artistic education - and not only - in the period of Modernity but also its current state as the most complete codified possibility of presenting personal ideas and innovative new forms.
The historical examples, the "encyclopedia" of the many by-products of drawing, the typography and the products that are not equal to the art, such as maps, educational diagrams, computer graphics as well as all kinds of urban shapes and formats ( signals-codes) will be introduced as templates for weekly assignments and medium-term tasks. Furthermore, the acquaintance with the special terminology of the visual arts at a technical and theoretical level is sought on the occasion of drawing and its various applications. In the studio, exercises are given that aim at the development of the imagination and creativity of the students-three with vehicle simple solutions of technical application of artistic solutions on their work. Individualized teaching and laboratory research on the possibility of elaborating an artistic idea or capturing reality by simple means are preferred as well as the combined exercises on the possibility of unifying the form and content of the artistic product of the students, so that it involves artwork claims.
