Courses in veterinary dentistry and maxillofacial surgery are designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills related to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of oral and dental diseases in animals. The educational goals of these courses can include: Understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the oral cavity and related structures in various animal species, including dogs, cats, horses, and other domestic and exotic animals. Ability to perform a thorough oral examination, including assessment of teeth, gums, tongue, palate, and other oral tissues. Knowledge of common oral and dental diseases and disorders, including periodontal disease, oral tumors, and malocclusions. Familiarity with diagnostic techniques, such as radiography, computed tomography (CT). Ability to perform dental procedures, such as extractions, root canal therapy, and restorations. Understanding of anesthesia and pain management techniques for oral and dental procedures. Knowledge of maxillofacial surgery techniques, such as jaw fracture repair, cleft palate repair, and oral tumor removal. Familiarity with postoperative care and follow-up for oral and dental procedures. Overall, the goal of courses in veterinary dentistry and maxillofacial surgery is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose, treat, and prevent oral and dental diseases in animals, and to improve the overall health and well-being of their patients.

Developing skills in performing advanced dental procedures, such as root canal therapy, crown placement, and orthodontics. 6. Developing skills in performing maxillofacial surgeries, such as mandibulectomies, maxillectomies, and palatal defects restoration. 7. Understanding the principles of pain management and anesthesia in oral and maxillofacial surgeries. 8. Developing knowledge of pharmacology and antibiotic use in oral and maxillofacial surgeries. 9. Understanding the importance of client communication and education regarding oral and maxillofacial health and the importance of regular dental care for pets. 10. Developing an understanding of the ethical and legal considerations in veterinary dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.
