Learning Outcomes
After the course, students will a) know the basic theoretical characteristics of critical pedagogy, b) understand the social and historical conditions of critical pedagogy's birth and development and c) understand the theoretical influences of critical pedagogy's main represetatives.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Critical pedagogy as perspective of theory and practice was born in the U.S.A. during the 1980's. Understanding critical pedagogy is a complicated undertaking that includes analysis of the social, political and ideological conditions of its birth and development, study of the concepts employed and the ways critical pedagogy used these concepts, designation of the differences between its main representatives and calibration of the pedagogical practices that use critical pedagogy.
