Learning Outcomes
On the successful completion of the course familiarization with the ecclesiastical literature is accomplished. Students acquire knowledge of the issues emerging in the literature of the period and the contribution of the ecclesiastical authors and Fathers of the Church in dealing with the major theological issues of the time (Anti-Trinitarian trends, Enlightenment, Atheism, Kollyvad issue, Philokalia, Monasticism and Hesychast tradition, Islam and Christianity, Crypto-Christianity). The use of the related bibliography is included in the scope of the course, as well
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course follows the development of theological orientation through the Reformation and anti-reformation , the pietism, the Enlightenment and the confessions of Faith. It also examines the apologetic Theology of the post-Byzantine era. The course presents the Theological ferment during the Ottoman period.
