Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the teaching of the 13 teaching units of the course:
- Students will have the opportunity to be informed and compare the differences between Globalization and Globalization and their impact on society and democracy.
- Consequently they will analyze the importance of cultural identity in the world of diversity.
- Finally, it is sought to be able to elaborate the two terms Globalization and Universality and to understand their application in the modern World Community.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course examines the phenomenon of Globalization as a threat to national identity but also as an important opportunity for communication and dialogue. It also studies the cultural theories of Globalization and Universality as well as the key role of religions in cultural dialogue and in the formation of religious and national identity. Finally, the contribution of the Holy and Great Synod of Crete is studied, as well as the Orthodox Christian critique towards it Globalization.
The 13 teaching units of the course are distributed as follows:
1. Definitions of Globalization.
2. Definitions of Universality.
3. Globalization and Political Economy.
4. Globalization and Democracy.
5. The problems of post-democracy and post-humanism.
6. Globalization and Culture.
7. Multiculturalism and Globalization.
8. Cultural Identity and Globalization.
9. Nation and Globalization.
10. Christian Ecumenism and Globalization.
11. The Holy and Great Synod of Crete and the problem of Globalization.
12. Multi-religious reality and Globalization.
13. Cultural diplomacy, interfaith dialogue and globalization.
