Course Content (Syllabus)
The Acting Workshop I introduces students to the process of collaboration with the actor and guiding him/her through the different stages of filmmaking. It also proposes a way of analyzing the film script as a whole and each scene separately, from the perspective of the art of acting. Our main point of reference is the Stanislavski system and in particular the Method of Natural Actions. The methodology of the course interweaves the theoretical understanding of basic concepts of the system with their practical application in the filmmaking process. Particular emphasis is placed on the active analysis of the script and the film role and the use of etude as one of the main tools for conducting rehearsal. The process of casting actors and conducting auditions is also examined in detail.
