Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
Good basic knowledge of structural analysis and concrete structures is required
Learning Outcomes
Last-year students in Civ Eng have the chance to familiarise themselves with the modern methods for analysis of reinforced concrete (R/C) structures using the nonlinear analysis method for line element structures (frames). Analysis methods recommended by the contemporary design codes for reinforced concrete structures. In-depth knowledge of the behaviour of R/C members under different stress states and description of behaviour models for structural elements under monotonic and cyclic loading. Familiarisation with the application of inelastic analysis for the study of the seismic behavior of multistory reinforced concrete structures with and without infils. Study of pilotis buildings.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Work autonomously
Course Content (Syllabus)
Modern methods for analysis of R/C structures - Contemporary design codes. Range of application of linear methods - Inelastic methods - Current code requirements. Nonlinear analysis of R/C frame structures. Fundamental models for R/C and its constituent materials: Uniaxial compression (of normal and high-strength concrete). Multiaxial compression. Confined concrete. Moment-curvature and moment-rotation diagrams for R/C members. Concrete and steel under uniaxial tension. Bond between concrete and steel. Modelling of planar R/C structures
