Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students:
• will be familiar with the theories of Social Psychology that constitute the dominant epistemological trends
• will know the scientific and historical context in which these theories were produced
• will be familiar with contemporary research and the fields of theory application
• will be able to estimate the potential and limitations of theories in research and application
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course focuses on the dominant theoretical and research trends in Social Psychology (such as, for example, social identity theory, social cognition, attitudes and attitude change, social influence). The lectures a) elaborate on the basic assumptions and the classic studies that pave the way for each theory and the scientific and social environment in which it was founded and b) present recent research production and application of different theoretical principles in understanding social psychological phenomena and addressing contemporary social challenges.
