Course Content (Syllabus)
Invertebrate assemblages in different environments: Marine (shallow, coastal, lagoonal), River - Lake, Land. Use of invertebrates as markers of paleoenvironment. Comparison of assemblages of different organisms (bryozoans, molluscs...) for larger scale and paleogeographic reconstructions - examples. Sea level indicators - applications and case studies of paleogeographic reconstruction of areas from Greece and the wider Mediterranean region during the Pleistocene - Holocene. Environmental variations, environmental stability with statistical methods. Applications in geoarchaeology. Sampling techniques of Holocene fossiliferous sediments.
