Course Content (Syllabus)
The child's daily life is full of music and games with sounds that feed her/his imagination, fill her/him with experiences and knowledge and a way of communicating with the world around him. S/He improvises with her/his voice, body, everyday objects or musical instruments. The course analyses and identifies the formation of the appropriate pedagogical environment to support children for their participation in active experiences of musical play. Regardless of the teacher's musical knowledge, they familiarize themselves with the means and techniques that support the cultivation of children's basic musical knowledge and abilities, according to their developmental, emotional and social needs. The important role of future educators to act as researchers in a democratic and child-centred classroom is highlighted. In this context, their skill to observe, understand and support children's musical play is developed, in order to enrich teaching practice with designing and implementing activities based on children's interests and perspective.
