Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will: (a) understand the different approaches to film education and comment comparatively and critically on the one they consider most relevant b) design and organise an integrated programme of film education in the school setting (c) to master basic pedagogical principles (e.g. teamwork and active teaching, encouragement, development of critical knowledge, etc.) (d) develop arguments about the role and necessity of film education (e) carry out a literature survey and write an academic essay (f) understand the basic features and principles of filmmaking for children and young people

Course Content (Syllabus)
Film Education/Film Pedagogy The course covers: (a) historically, the relationship between film and education both in Greece and in other European countries. b) the main theoretical currents concerning the field of Film Education/Literacy, either in the field of Media Education/Literacy or as an independent field, according to contemporary developments. (c) how to organise and plan a lesson in order to implement a CC programme at school (viewing, analysis and production of a film) (d) examples of exercises and practical application of CC at school (e) the basic pedagogical principles necessary for the approach of pupils during the implementation of the programme in the following semester f) the efforts of institutions and organizations for the introduction of CE in the curricula, in Greece and in Europe, as well as good practices implemented by students during the previous academic years (g) the importance of Film Education/Film PEdagogy for audience development, artistic education, development of aesthetics and critical faculties of children/young people.

Student Assessment
Description
The student is assessed through two exonerating written assignments (40%+40%) worked on during the semester and handed in at the end of the semester (academic essay 2.000-2. 500 words with at least four (4) academic sources). Positive consideration will be given for active attendance in classes (10%). The presentation of papers is mandatory and will be taken into account (10%) There is the possibility of written examinations (multiple choice topics and development questions)
