Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
• gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of surface, underground, and construction surveying, including the role of surveying in road construction, tunnel construction, mining, and constatation projects.
• be able to apply modern surveying techniques using advanced instruments such as total stations and laser scanners etc, as well as implement geodetic and engineering control networks with precision.
• develop the ability to solve real-world problems related to alignment, positioning, and structural monitoring, while also applying error analysis and adjustment techniques to ensure accuracy.
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course covers the principles and methodologies for setting out technical works, including the preliminary works, required precision, and error analysis in construction layouts. Students will learn the processes for laying out building projects, including horizontal and vertical control systems for angular and linear measurements. The syllabus includes setting out transportation infrastructure, focusing on horizontal curves, alignments of straight lines and circular arcs, as well as compound curves like clothoids and vertical curves. Bridge construction, tunnel alignment, and the determination of tunnel axis direction are taught. Furthermore, the course explores methods of underground orientation, the layout of subsurface projects, and techniques for monitoring deformations in technical structures, using modern geodetic instruments and satellite positioning systems - GNSS
