It is strongly suggested that the following courses have been successfully completed before taking this particular course: Cadastre (6th Semester), Urban Planning (6th Semester), Field Application of Layout Plans and Surveying Practise (6th Semester), Geographic Information Systems I (4th Semester), Geographic Information Systems II (7th Semester), Advanced Topics of Topographic Studies (8th Semester).
Learning Outcomes
Students are expected to become competent through theoretical and practical training in: - understanding more complex concepts of property law relating to real estate - combining technical and legal knowledge in specific applications - becoming familiar with specific administrative acts affecting property boundaries - understanding the main points of the legislation governing the Land Registry and town planning - managing spatial information for the purpose of documenting technical reports on properties - understanding the concept of multidimensional cadastre and how it can be used in land planning and management

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is organised in several lectures, which present the following indicative structure and order: 1.) Presentation of Law 2308/1995 concerning the establishment of the National Cadastre in the country. Key points and technical specifications. 2.) Presentation of Law 2664/1998 concerning the operation of the National Cadastre in the country. Key points. Drafting of geometric change diagrams. 3.) Recent Legislation concerning the Cadastre. The final output data of the Cadastre. Presentation of the digital map of the Cadastre. 4.) Presentation of the Electronic Services of the Cadastre. Workflow diagram for the transfer of a right in rem. The role of the Land Surveyor in property transactions. 5.) Checking the accuracy and quality of the spatial data of the Cadastre. Application to a case study. 6.) The multidimensional Cadastre and Land Management Models. Introduction to nD Cadastral Systems and their applications (e.g. Marine Cadastre, Cadastre of underground Utility Networks). 7.) ISO standards used to create a Land Administration Model (ISO 19152:1-5). 8.) The issue of exchangeable properties as well as the succession of the Ottoman Empire as far as the ownership status is concerned. General Presentation of the Property Regime of Greece. 9.) Definition of the Sea and Beach Zones. Presentation of the Legislative Framework, the necessary surveying techniques and web applications in order to protect the common character of this land use. Applications in Urban Planning. 10.) Land rezoning/consolidaton. Presentation of the Legislative Framework as well as the workflow diagram for the preparation of a rezoning act. Examples from the Greek Territory. 11.) Delimitation studies (e.g. of rivers). Presentation of the Legislative Framework and the restrictions it imposes on land management. Study of open section streams as a common area of the city. 12.) Planning of Urban Areas using free geospatial data to protect them against possible natural disasters. 13.) Building regulation outside the urban fabric. Presentation of the Legislative framework and additional guidelines.

The final grade of the course will be based 50% on a project that will be assigned to the students and 50% on the grade of the written examination at the end of the semester.
