Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
Operate basic computational applications aimed at processing and visualizing digital information related to geosciences.
Define/formulate basic commands in a programming language.
Develop computational thinking and use spreadsheets (Excel).
Identify and process files formatted typically for applications in geosciences.
Develop and validate algorithms through simple applied exercises, based on modern research methods in geosciences.
Visualize data (graphs).

Matlab or Python: Introduction to programming . Numbers and variables. Algorithms. Reading input files. Creating plots.
EXCEL: Introduction to spreadsheets. Data input. Use of functions. Calculations. Creating plots.
