Learning Outcomes
Medical students after successful completion of the course will have acquired : 1. Familiarizing with the distinctiveness of adolescents'health and sensitization for the importance of the prevention and promotion of their health. They will also be aware of "Healthy and Youth-Friendly" Health Services in accordance with the World Health Organization's requirements and recommendations. 2. Education on issues regarding physiology of growth and puberty as well as their disorders. 3. Education on issues regarding adolescents' nutrition and eating disorders. 4. Education regarding adolescents' sexual health, sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, adolescent pregnancy 5. Education regarding issues of menstrual disorders, hirsutism, polycystic ovary syndrome 6. Education on high-risk behaviors in adolescence (smoking, alcohol, drugs, reckless driving, etc.) 7. Education and awareness about chronic disease during adolescence and the importance of the transition to adult health care units. 8. Education on the spectrum of mental disorders in adolescence

Course Content (Syllabus)
Syllabus The training program in Adolescent Medicine includes the following sections: 1. Physiology of puberty, growth, behavior and developmental periods of the adolescent. 2. Protocols for preventive medicine and medical services for the adolescent population. 3. Medical interview for adolescents, acronym HEEADSSS (Home-Living Conditions, Education-Education, Employment-Work, Activities, Drugs-Substances, Sexuality, Suicide / Depression, Safety). 4. Vaccinations in adolescence 5. Substance use and abuse 6. Sexually transmitted diseases 7. Common acne 8. Nutrition in adolescence and Obesity 9. Cardiovascular risk and sports assessment in adolescence 10. Food intake disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa) 11. Chronic Disease in Adolescence and the Transition to Adult Health Services 12. Epilepsy in adolescence 13. Mental disorders in adolescence 14. Internet, social media and mass media 15. Tobacco use and vaping in adolescence 16. Menstrual disorders and contraception in adolescence

Description
Undergraduate students are evaluated through written exams in the predefined examination periods of each academic year. The exams consist of two parts: Part A: Short questions on the content of the practical training and this part constitutes 20% of the student's final grade (0-2 out of a total of 10 units), Part B: Multiple choice questions and this part constitutes 80% of the student's final grade (0-8 out of a total of 10 points). The examined educational material of the course is also the taught educational material.
