With successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
Recognize the facial nerve and ensure its preservation during a surgical procedure.
Understand the use of nerve monitoring and the techniques for facial nerve restoration.
Familiarize themselves with the step-by-step procedure for submandibular gland removal, with a particular emphasis on preserving the marginal branch of the facial nerve and the lingual nerve.
Apply the learned techniques to fresh cadaveric specimens.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The surgery of the major salivary glands presents specific challenges due to their close relationship with the noble anatomical structures of the neck. Specifically, in parotid surgery, the identification and preservation of the facial nerve during the procedure, the use of nerve monitoring, and the techniques for restoration in case of nerve injury are the focus of this course. Additionally, the step-by-step procedure for submandibular gland removal will be detailed, with emphasis on preserving the marginal branch of the facial nerve and the lingual nerve. Surgical techniques will be presented in video format for better understanding, and subsequently, postgraduate students will have the opportunity for hands-on practice using fresh cadaveric specimens.
