Learning Outcomes
The course of technical drawing is a basic course in the science of the Rural and Surveying Engineer. The knowledge of the principles and the rules of drawing comprises a necessary equipment taken that drawing represents the common language among all different disciplines of Engineers.
On the successful completion of the course, the students will be able to understand the physical space and to depict it on the paper surface. They will be familiar with the concepts and the techniques of drawing the 3D space and its objects, and the way of using the drawing methods, techniques and tools, as well.
The students will be aware of an introduction to the basic concepts and principles of the architectural drawing. They will be able, through the rules of Descriptive Geometry, to depict floor plans', views' and sections' drawings, to understand the sequence of the different levels in the physical space and the drawing language.
They will be able to do free-hand, in situ drawing, the handmade sketch of the topographic surveying by depicting the real physical space on the paper surface. They will be able to draw on scale and under certain specifications a topographic drawing that entails the basic background elements. They will be able to calculate and draw the contour lines, the longitudinal profile and the cross section of the physical ground. Finally, they will be able to set up a drawing project.
The technical drawing is an essential prerequisite in order for the students to understand their surrounding physical space and to be able to render it with the drawing. Through the hand-drawing procedure and the space's depiction, students will be able, later on, to transfer the result of their drawings to computer design tools.
